MISSION STATEMENT BIOGRAPHY » TOM MACDONALD Since California’s early testing and demonstrations of alcohol-fueled vehicles (using both ethanol and methanol) in the early 1980’s, Mr. MacDonald has maintained an ongoing interest and research focus on production and applications of alcohol fuels in California and the U.S., and in other countries. He has also been involved in technical and policy analysis and studies of most other transportation energy alternatives, including other biofuels such as biodiesel, natural gas, LPG, electricity and hydrogen, as well as the conventional petroleum fuel supply system and transportation energy efficiency. He has authored or co-authored many Energy Commission reports on alcohol fuels and a variety of other transportation energy subjects (see list of publications), and participated in numerous conferences and forums on transportation energy topics. He is a regular participant and presenter at the International Symposia on Alcohol Fuels. Mr. MacDonald received his Bachelor of Science degree from the School of Natural Resources at Michigan State University in 1970, with post-graduate studies in energy and environmental subjects at Michigan Sate and California State University Sacramento. |
