Specialists in Alcohol Fuels and other Transportation Energy Alternatives

ETHANOL IN BRAZIL: Multi-Client Study (Click Here):MacDonald Associates continues to pursue its detailed study of all dimensions of Brazil’s thirty-year experience with ethanol fuel. Tom MacDonald is partnering with Henrique Oliveira of Ethablog (http://www.ethablog.blogspot.com) to complete this study, expected to be available by the end of 2007. MacDonald will be returning to Brazil for the month of August 2007 to complete the field data-gathering phase of the study, along with Oliveira, who is in Brazil spending his summer break from his University of Michigan MBA program working on the study. This project will produce the most thorough, factual and objective study report to date on this path-breaking case of alcohol fuel production and use, intended as a valuable and timely guide for international efforts and investments in alternative fuels.

Ethanol Fuel Use in Brazil (Click Here): This article by Tom MacDonald compares the status of ethanol in Brazil and the U.S., pointing out some of the significant differences in the evolution of ethanol motor fuel market development in the two countries responsible for most of the world’s ethanol fuel use. The article was originally submitted for publication by the California Biomass Collaborative at University of California, Davis, for publication on the Collaborative’s website (http://biomass.ucdavis.edu).

New Report on Cellulosic Ethanol Production (Click Here):A new June 2007 study report, co-authored by Tom MacDonald and Dr. Dennis Schuetzle et al of TSS Consultants, provides one of the most complete evaluations to date of biochemical and thermochemical technologies under development for potential production of ethanol and other alcohol fuels from cellulosic biomass. This study, entitled “Alcohol Fuels from Biomass – Assessment of Production Technologies” was produced by the California Energy Commission under sponsorship of the Western Governors’ Association.

The complete report is available upon request by sending your interest to inquiry@tmacenergy.com.
